Executive Director &
Lead Instructor
Shawna Morrissette

For over 10 years I have been the CEO of Majestic Mud Studio in which I was able to create many wonderful creative and healing programs using clay, drumming, drama and movement. Unfortunately as a small business owner I was not able to provide financial support to those in our community that couldn’t afford to experience these programs and there overall benefits. I wanted to be able to share with the whole community and have the support of my community. So I embarked on a long and sometimes scary journey to help create the not- for- profit agency “The Muddy Music Centre Community Outreach & Development”. With the help of so many wonderful people (some you will meet below) The Muddy Music Centre has become a reality. Now all people in our community can have a place to express their unique, beautiful, and creative self.

Administration Coordinator

Jen Smerdon

Jen has a love of pottery, likes things to be organized and has worked in administrative and coordination roles for not-for-profit organizations for over 6 years. The combination of these factors makes her administrative role in the Muddy Music Centre a natural fit.

Administrative and Technical Arts Coordinator

Kyle Murphy

Kyle left the corporate world a couple years ago to find something worth doing, and found something truly worthwhile working for the Muddy Music Centre.  He handles the administrative and technical arts side of life here (signs, business cards, photography, website stuff, brochures, etc.), in between juggling his own digital art projects and four legged children.  Kyle is active on several art websites and is an amateur (sometimes immature?) art critic.

Kyle has his Combined Honours Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and taught in Japan for a year after graduation.  His passion however lies with the arts, and as such fits in happily with the Centre and its goals.

Sarah Morrissette

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am one of the instructors for the Muddy Music Centre. I have been working with Majestic Mud, which has partnerer with the Muddy Music Centre for about 9 years now. In these 9 years there has never been a moment where I was not satisfied working for and with Majestic Mud and the Muddy Music Centre. It actually has made me realize my passion for working with kids. There is nothing more rewarding then seeing their big smiles after a class or one of the camps. I love creating art and helping others create their own art. Through this expression the kids learn new things about themselves and enhance their development. By the end of their experience they not only feel better but also become better. Teaching pottery and other art forms at the Muddy Music Centre has brought me great joy and will continue to do so for these reasons.

Helene Lejeune

As a child, growing up in Belgium, Hélène Lejeune found a passion for arts and creation. Over the years, after settling in Kitchener, Hélène explored many art forms. She found a passion for hand building clay and working with plaster to create large sculptures. For the past six years Hélène found some exciting ways to fuse glass in her kiln and explore the many possibilities this art form has to offer.
